Halloween Parade Update
Due to the bad weather, the Kennett Square Halloween Parade moved indoors at the American Legion Building on Sunday, October 28th. 
Trophies were awarded for the following costume categories:
  • Scariest: Pirate: Ed McDonald, E&H and Son
  • Funniest: Rock, Paper, Scissors: The Davies Family
  • Adult: Jack Sparrow: Sean Reigel
  • Group: Dancing Leaves: Friends of bedbugzz...
  • Individual Child: Hot Air Balloon: Tia Scott
  • Performance Group: KMC Illuminations
Thank you for the great entertainment provided by professional clown Bob Strehlau, the Longwood Performing Arts dancers, enthusiastic emcee Doug Harris, and the music of DJ Pam. Special thanks goes to Bove Jewelers for all of the Best Costume Trophies. Thank you to TASTYKAKE, WSFS Bank, Mike Moyers State Farm Insurance, the Kennett Square Merchants and the Kennett Moms Club for providing Halloween treats to all of the children.

ANNUAL HALLOWEEN PARADE
Sunday, October 28, 2012, 3:00 p.m.
Scarecrows, cornstalks, and pumpkins - oh my! Witches, ghosts, and a full moon up high! Downtown Kennett Square is looking to be transformed with the festive sights and activities of the Fall Season. The perennial favorite, Kennett Square's Halloween Parade will be on Sunday, October 28, 3 p.m. Organizations and individuals are all welcome to participate.

JOIN THE DOWNTOWN FESTIVITIES ON OCTOBER 28
Come into town early and children are welcome to trick-or-treat at participating downtown businesses. The parade will kick off at 3 p.m. with costumes, music, and floats.  The marchers will begin Lafayette Street and West State Street. The parade will march east up State Street through the center of town and turn right onto South Broad Street, where they parade will end at the American Legion Hall. Winners will be announced inside the American Legion following the parade, as well as posted on the Historic Kennett Square, Kennett Square Merchants, and the Kennett Square Halloween Parade facebook pages.  

View the uncarved decorated pumpkin contest in the American Legion Buidling and also visit the Brick Garage Haunted House 4 - 9 pm, at the intersection of North Walnut Street and West State Street.  

COME IN YOUR "SPOOKY BEST"!
Prizes will be awarded to individual parade participants and organized groups for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in all costume categories.  Complete the online parade application and mail or drop off at:  Historic Kennett Square, 106 East State Street,  Kennett Square  19348.    Winners will be notified by phone, announced via the Historic Kennett Square website, and posted at the Kiosk in the Genesis Walkway, next to Currie Hair, Skin, Nails (121 E. State Street). 

DOWNTOWN KENNETT SQUARE'S HALLOWEEN HAVEN
The streets of Downtown Kennett Square will be decorated with corn stalks and scarecrows during the month of October.  Stroll through town and choose your favorite scarecrow along the business district. Or check out the pictures here and vote online for your favorite scarecrow. (link coming soon)

Scroll down tor more information regarding attending and participating in this year's Halloween Parade. This is a family-friendly event. No alcoholic beverages, firearms, explosives, or obscene/objectionable dress or displays are permitted.

REGISTRATION

Please fill out the Parade Registration Form and submit by noon, Monday, October 22:

Entry Numbers will be assigned. You will be contacted via email or telephone with your registration information before the parade.

SCHEDULE & ROUTE
The participant line-up will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the Sovereign Bank parking lot, at the corner of Lafayette and West State Street. Registered floats, groups, and individuals will line up at the Sovereign Bank Parking Lot off Lafayette and West Cypress Street. The parade will proceed east on State Street, ending at Broad and State, where winners will be announced inside the American Legion Building. 

JUDGING
To be considered for prizes, individual and group numbers must be visible to the Judges. 1st Place Prizes will be awarded for the following categories: Funniest, Scariest, Best Kid, Best Adult, Best Pet, Best Act (Performance), Best Group and Best Float. Winners will be announced and trophies will be given out at the American Legion Hall on Broad Street after the parade. Winners will be posted on the Kennett Square Merchants and Kennett Square Halloween Parade facebook pages, as well as posted on the Kiosk in the Genesis Walkway.

PARADE RULES
The Halloween Parade is a family event. No alcoholic beverages, firearms, explosives, or obscene/objectionable dress or displays are permitted. For public safety reasons, throwing candy or other items by participants of the parade is STRICTLY PROHIBITED and will not be tolerated. Participants may distribute candy as they walk along the route. Vehicles in the parade line must maintain a safe distance from pedestrian traffic and spectators. Any infraction will result in being pulled from the parade line. We request that all participants refrain from smoking during staging and the parade due to the flammable nature of costumes and floats. Please comply!
