Located just minutes from Kennett Square deep in the wilds of Mushroom Country,Va La is a small farm consisting of a hillside cellar, seven acres of vines, and onefamily devoted to each other and to the creation of unusual little wines.   Va La is a micro-winery, focussed entirely on the creation of tiny batches of wines made from unholy blends of Italian and French varieties, that our elders tell us we have no business making, and that cause us as much financial hardship as possible. Please visit our Underground Railroad exhibit at the Chester County Visitors Center near Longwood Gardens. The Visitors Center is open 363 days a year (closed Thanksgiving and Christmas). From April to October the Visitors Center hours are 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., and November to March, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

On the banks of the Brandywine River in Chadds Ford, the museum houses the premier collection of three generations of the Wyeth family, as well as works by Howard Pyle and other important American illustrators. The museum offers the visitor the opportunity to relax and enjoy the river setting while touring the gallery (allow 1.5 hours). From April to November a tour of N.C. Wyeth's studio and home take are an optional extra (allow one hour). Hours of operation are 9:30 am - 4:30 pm daily, closed Christmas Day. 610-388 2700.

Birthplace of the du Pont company. Visitors can tour the house, gardens, powder yards, Blacksmith Hill worker's community, machine shops and the museum of industry. Look for the du Pont automobile, once the most expensive car in the world. Open most days; Admission fee; 302-658-2400.

Longwood Gardens, created by Pierre S. du Pont, is one of the premier arboretums in the country if not in the world. The Gardens encompass horticultural displays, walkways and meadows on 1,050 acres. The beautiful four acre conservatory and fountains are not to be missed. Touring the gardens leisurely can take between four and eight hours and comfortable shoes and clothing for the season are advised. Longwood is open every day of the year from 9 am- 5 pm and from Memorial Day to Labor Day remains open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday evenings until 10:15 offering a concert and the summer Festival of Fountains. This fascinating museum's growing exhibitions and collections include over 35 helicopters, autogiros and converti planes, eight of which are fully accessible for hands-on experiences. The Museum is located in West Chester, PA next to QVC.

Gap, PA. A 30-acre vineyard of approximately two thirds classic European vinifera and the remainder French hybrid vines. All fermentation to barrel aging and bottling, take place on the premises in facilities you can see during your visit.
